What are the benefits of participating with the Road Trip Pass program?
The three main benefits to honouring Road Trip Passes are: there are 1) no hefty commissions (like those taken by booking sites), 2) you deal directly with the vacationers, and 3) all payments and customer service stay between you and your customers.
As well, since listing your business on our map is free, even if no new customers are sent your way, you’ll also be getting free advertising.
How much of a discount does my business need to offer?
As a Participating Businesses, who has signed an agreement with DBM, you will have agreed to offer Active RTP holders the Standard Discount of 20% off of your Principal Offering. i.e. the main experience your business is designed to facilitate.
** Note: It’s important to highlight the 20% discount (reduction in revenue) might be less than your advertising budget and is incurred only when you make a sale. Meaning, you aren’t trying to recoup your ad spend.
How do we know if a customer has a valid Road Trip Pass?
Customers must present proof of their Active RTP subscription 1) at the time of initial booking/reservation and 2) when they check-in. This will be in the form of a confirmation email or by showing their active subscription status via their account login (on this website). Please remind customers to present this documentation, as they have many things to think about while on vacation.
Can customers book our activities directly through the Don't BUGMe I'm On Vacation website?
No, Don’t BUGMe I’m On Vacation is a reference and referral site; NOT a booking site. Customers will make their reservations, payments, special requests, and all other customer service directly with your business.
Will Don't BUGMe I'm On Vacation cut into my sales?
No, we aren't cutting into your sales. You are dealing directly with your customers, and payments stay with you. We are simply providing a platform and incentive for potential customers to connect with you.
What are the obligations of a Participating Business?
As a participating business, you agree to honour the pass. That is, to offer 20% discount off your Principal Offering, as specified in your listing on our Map, to Vacationers who present an Active Road Trip Pass. It is also expected you keep your profile up to date. Please feel free to contact us if you’d like changes or advice about how to maximise your exposure.
Why should my business participate in the Road Trip Pass program?
Financially, the 20% savings you offer vacationers is generally less than what booking websites would charge you to sell your adventures.
Not only will you increase your bottom line, you’ll be doing it by serving customers you can best impress due to our robust map filtering … leading to more enjoyable experiences, better reviews… and increased likelihood of return visits.
Additionally, if you are familiar with the innate value of reciprocity, DBM’s intention is to have a great life by assisting others having great lives. By supporting us in supporting you (and your customers) you are effectively supporting yourself.
And all of these benefits come with no upfront cost to your business. You simply need to maintain an accurate profile and honour the Road Trip Pass.
The real question then, is why wouldn’t you participate?
How can my business benefit from becoming an Affiliate Partner in addition to being listed?
First, it’s another product you can sell at your business. And the commission you make by selling Road Trip Passes will partially offset the discount you offered to your customers.
So, in addition to attracting new customers (by listing your business and honouring the RTP) at a lower advertising cost than traditional methods, you can also make additional revenue from a customer you attracted through your own advertising efforts.
By participating in the Road Trip Pass program AND selling RTPs as an Affiliate Partner, you would be a business who benefits from supporting DBM… who benefits from supporting businesses and vacationers… who both benefit from supporting DBM… who supports…. and on, and on. Everybody wins!
